Removing or changing the middle console on a 1969 Camaro should be done with care if it is unique. It is likely to be delicate where it products to the floor and at the moving move protect on an automated. Areas are difficult to find at a affordable price. There are several suitable shifters available for the 1969 design. Alternative parts -- not actually NOS -- are available from several upgraded resources.
Instructions
1
Detach the adverse power supply terminal if the console has manufacturer indicators. Interact with the vehicle parking braking mechanism or prevent the wheels and put the indication in fairly neutral. Eliminate the move handle. If it is a stick move, just unscrew the handle. If it is an automated, ease the little Allen twist in the platform of the shifter manage.
2
Fall the shifter manage up and off the shifter pipe. Find the nasty rod in the pipe. This is the detente rod that gets encouraged down when the control buttons on the lower part of the manage are frustrated. It allows the shifter to move through the equipment and stops it from doing so in fairly neutral, opposite or playground, when launched.
3
Eliminate the shifter protect menu. In the situation of a stick move, get rid of Phillips nails in the four sides of the menu. Some automated gearbox protects also have four nails, but more than likely will have rectangle-shaped springtime segments mounted to the back of the protect. If this is the situation, use a little screw driver to properly pry the protect up, launching the cut nails. Raise either protect up and over the move rod. Be cautious not to lose the slider protect for the automated.
4
Eliminate the two Phillips nails in the top side outside of the console. Two more nails can be seen now that the move protect has been eliminated. The last twist will be under the back ashtray. Raise the top side of the console up just enough to disconnect the indicators using little electric wrenches. Eliminate the console.
